A Tribute to River Phoenix

At first I was so blind,
thought my life was timed.
The world around was clear,
but what am I doing here?
Went through life in a haze,
did my job for days and days.
No real purpose but to strive,
to make myself live and survive.
Then I met a boy who shined,
who showed me that I wasn't blind.
All we had to do was but look,
like reading pages from a book.
I followed his life and his career,
it made me feel like he was near.
When we met it was pure joy,
though he was still but a boy.
He helped me see and hear and think,
though life was never really pink.
But it could all be gone in just a blink,
if we fail to really think.
Then he died, one early morn,
I felt ruined, my life was torn.
I pulled myself into a shell,
because of all the personal hell.
I was shattered...,
...Nothing mattered.
Then I came out, started sniffing the breeze,
life wasn't rosy, nothnig with ease.
I struggled with tumult and uneasy feelings,
hate, despair, anger and abnormal reelings.
Now I see clearly, at least in my mind,
with help from others, I'm not nearly so blind.
Now I know my life is timed,
with someone named Rio on my mind.
